A. Good question, Acupuncture, which dates back centuries, traditionally never used gloves, in fact latex had not been heard of when Acupuncture commenced. Similarly, if you go back far enough, there were once no lines on roads, nor seat belts in cars, nor helmets for bike riders...Thankfully, with the passage of time we gain knowledge which influences our behaviour and improves our safety..gloves when needling is another good example of this.
Gloves are worn to protect the mostt important person in the room...'the practitioner' from blood borne diseases that the therapist may be exposed to during dry needling treatment. So most certainly, wearing gloves may well save a therapists life-that is why we enforce the use of gloves in our courses.
